South West Trip Day 3 Saturday May 6, 2017

Today starts in Kingman, AZ
And finishes in Holbrook, AZ
Passing through Flagstaff
Ghosts of Route-66 along the way

Places Visited Along The Way, Photos, and Notes

I hit the road in Kingman about 8:30
On the way out, I noticed a Tesla charging up

The motels must be getting smart and installing chargers

As forecast, the weather was decidedly cooler
Most of the day was in the low 70's
with the afternoon climbing into the low 80's

Unfortunately, that kind of temperature difference from yesterday feeds winds.
All day the winds were extremely strong from the south.
Even the trucks were wandering in and sometimes out of their lane.
Passing a truck, you encounter the trailing turbulance first.
Since the wind is from the right, you experience it in the fast lane very early.
Then as you pull alongside, the truck shadows you from the wind and
the bike, still in an attitude to fend off the wind, is drawn toward the truck.
Then as you pass the front, the wind returns. augmented by
the bow wake of the truck. and you surge back to the left.

Sometimes you just get lucky...
I was planning on stopping just for fun in Seligman a Route-66 tourism mecca

To my surprise, they were having a huge auto show today
Cars of all descriptions are parked around town
or are slowly driving down the main drag
